The bridge was built across Mahanak Canal in King Rama VI’s

(interior) ministry. It was built for public benefit to honour
King Rama V, and completed in 1914.
King Rama VI named
the bridge Mahatthai U-Thit (contributed by Ministry of
Interior). Its structure is reinforced concrete with the
supporting arch underneath. Two sides of the bridge are
decorated with wreath and Chakra (Narayana’s weapon) design
stuccos with inscriptions of the bridge’s name and the date of
completion.
High relief of a woman carrying a child is on
one side and a man with a boy on another side, they are all in
grief. The bridge was registered a national heritage by the fine
