Mikado steam locomotive No. 950 was built by the Japan Railway
Industry Association and imported into Thailand in 1950. It was
used to pull trains on the northern and northeastern routes. It
was the last steam locomotive set of the State Railway of
Thailand used in Thailand. It was a model with a 2-8-2 wheel
arrangement, meaning 2 leading wheels – 8 power wheels – 2
trailing wheels. The car weighed 57.60 tons. It was originally
fueled by wood, but was later modified to use fuel oil. Mikado
steam locomotive No. 950 was discontinued in 1982. It is
currently located in the courtyard in front of the Siriraj
Phimukhsathan Museum (At former Thonburi Railway Stationnow
transformed in a park called "Chaloem Phra Kiat 72th Year
Park"). |
