SHRINES AND RELIGIOUS PLACES  -  Kuan Yim Shrine
ศาลเจ้าแม่กวนอิม มูลนิธิเทียนฟ้า
 Address:
 Known as:   Thian Fa Foundation
Description:   There are many Chinese shrines in Yawaorat, Bangkok’s Chinatown. Located right at the entrance of Yaowarat is “Thian Fa Foundation” established in 1902 by Chinese immigrants to Thailand. Till today, the Foundation provides free medical care and asistance for the poor through donations received from the public.

The temple’s architecture is a great masterpiece decorated with beautiful teak wood motif carvings such as dragons, phoenix, peony etc. Inside the temple, one can find a serene standing status of Kuan Si Yim Phu Sak or the ” Goddess of Mercy” in the attitude of giving blessings. The statue was carved out from a single piece of solid teakwood inspired by the Tang Dynasty art style.
The statue was shipped fom China and enshrined in the Thian Fa Building in 1958.
The Thian Fa Foundation Hospital Administration Centre is situated next to the temple and welcome public donations. The Thai Chinese often burn away the donation receipts for good luck after prayer. I always visit the shrine whenever I am in Bangkok’s Chinatown.

Getting There:
Take the underground transportation (MRT) to Hualamphong Station. A 20 mins walk from the station if not take a Tuk-Tuk or motorcycle from Exit 1.
