 Address:
 Known as:   Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit
Description:   Officially named Wat Mahathat Yuwarat Rangsarit, this is one of Bangkok’s oldest royal temples built during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It sits between the Grand Palace and the Palace of prince viceroys. The temple was known by other name, while the current name, Wat Mahathat, was given by Rama I in 1803 when it became the residence of the chief monk and the Buddha’s relics, inspired by the temple of its kind in Ayutthaya Kingdom. Wat Mahatat is now home to Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University, the premier center for Buddhist education in Thailand and the meditation center offering classes for locals and visitors.
