Ban Pong Manao Site Museum

 Description:   26.5 km away from Pasak Cholasit Dam, Ban Pong Ma Now Open Museum is located at Moo 7, Tambol Huay Khun Ram. It exhibits prehistoric materials covering the late Ban Chiang time or around 2,500 – 3,000 years ago. The museum is situated in a hilly area through which a river called Huay Suan Ma Duea runs. The excavation was done in a square-shaped dig site with 9 square meters in size. The dig site is in the west of Pong Ma Now Temple and up and in the north of the human skeletons exhibiting site which was done in 2000. The main archaeological evidences dug from this site are the huge ancient burial ground, indicating that the prehistoric men at Ban Pong Ma Now must have a complex development in a certain level and a structure of authority because some member were able to appointed a large amount of land to be the community’s area.
Prehistoric skeletons excavated at Ban Pong Ma Now site range from child to adult skeleton as well as male to female.  The skeletons were buried in the lying flat position with arm and leg straight. Artifacts were buried as well with the skeletons. Apart from that, there are a lot of artifacts, such as clay pots, hand axes, iron tools, stone and glass beads, sea shell bracelet, and chest ornaments collected and displayed at Wat Pong Ma Now Museum.    
Nowadays, people at Ban Pong Ma Now are together preserving this archaeological evidences and sites for the sake of education and national culture.

How to get there:
From Lopburi, take the route Lopburi – Kok Toom – Patananikom, Wang Muang, the same route as going to Suan Ma Duea Waterfall. No public transportation.
