Wat Phrom Rangsi   -
วัดพรหมรังษี
 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Built under the demand of Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi), Wat Phrom Rangsi is situated between Soi 11 and Soi 12, where the road number 21 and 3017 cross, Di Lang subdistrict, Pattana Nikom district, Lopburi. Chao Khun Phra Pipattanabhorn is responsible as the abbot. The origin of the temple’s name is derived from the time when Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi) paid pilgrimage and rested there. Later Buddhists with strong faith in the religion took part in establishing this temple and other monastic buildings. There was a myth that Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi) appeared in the dream of Mr. Suraphong – Mrs. Ubon Trirat and asked them to persuade Phra Dhammapanyachan Tim Uthatimo (Somdej Phra Mahawirapong, the abbot of Wat Raj Rachapradit) to build the temple. At first the abbot did not believe, until he spotted a mysterious yet auspicious sign. The abbot then brought together a group of religious Buddhists to fulfill Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi)’s demand. The chief of the construction was Lieutenant General Samarn Viravaidya.
General topography of the temple is a plateau within the self-contained community of Phra Buddha Badh Saraburi – Lopburi. The major commuting route is Sai Tri Road (Soi 12). The monastic buildings consist of the reinforced-concrete tetrahedron chapel (ubosot) built in 1972, the 2-storey concrete sermon hall built in 1981 and decorated with low-relief sculptures, and 11 monks’ living quarters. In addition, the temple also houses sacred objects, including the Kantharat (Greco-Buddhism art style) Buddha image in Samaathi posture (meditation), the Lopburi style Buddha images made of laterite stones, 3 votive tablets of Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi), and Phra Buddha Chinnaraj made of brass. The temple is tidy, verdant and full of shades.
Visitors and guests are welcome everyday from 8.00 to 16.30. The temple is accessible by car. It is located in Soi 12, just off the Highway 21, Di Lang subdistrict. You will find the temple standing right at the intersection which is approximately 9 kilometers away from Pattana Nikom district. By-passers generally pay a visit to the temple in order to worship Somdej Phra Buddhachan (To Phrom Rangsi).
