Phu Pha Yon National Park is located at To Ngoi district, on Phu
Phan range. The national park covers Muang district, Khok Si
Suphan district, Tao Ngoi district, Sakon Nakhon province, Na
Kare district, Nakhon Phanom and Dong Luang district, Kam Cha Ee
district, Mukdaharn province. The overall area is 825 square
kilometers or 517,850 Rais. It was established in order to
celebrate His Majesty the King on 28th July 1988. The general
feature is highland and sandstone range. The forest condition is
mixed with mixed forest, deciduous dipterocarp forest, dry
evergreen forest and evergreen forest. Plants that can be seen
there are Takien, Tabaek and Kabok. There are wild animals such
as barking deers, deers and jackals.
Interesting places in
the national park: Huai Huad water reservoir is located 500
meters away from the national park office. It was built after
building the Chonlaprathan dam according to His Majesty the
King’s idea. On the right-handed side of the water reservoir is
a weird shaped stone. From the pavilion, visitors can see two
waterfalls which flow to Huai Huad water reservoirs. Khum Nam
Srang is the tallest waterfall in the national park. If you
stand on the dam’s edge and look at the south, you will see
the waterfall. The waterfall is 25 meters high and is located
1.8 kilometers from the national park office. Phu Pha Yon
has a very beautiful viewpoint. Around the cliff, there are many
engraved statues which are around 3,000 years old. To go to the
viewpoint, drive along Higwahy Number 2339 (Tao Ngaoi – Sri
Vicha). Then turn left into Ban Na Ang – Muang Kam and drive
through Ban Pon Bok – Pon Paeng to Ban Na Phang which is 5
kilometers away from Tao Ngoi district. You can go there by car.
Phya Tao Ngoi Cliff is 7 kilometers away from the national park
office according to Ban Huai Huad – Khok Klang route. The
cliff is located near the road. It has the shape similar to Ngoi
turtle going to enter the water of Lum Nam Pung. It is
believed that the area where they can find Ngoi turtles is a
fertile. This belief is also a reason why people call this
village Tao Ngoi. Laan Dusita is a big wide stone field. In
late rainy season, there are many small flowers blossom in a
field especially Dusita flowers which are purple, Kradum Ngern,
Sroi Suwanna, En-ah, Yard Namkhang. The national park has
provided a route so visitors can observe the beauty of
nature without stepping on these small beautiful plants.
Moreover, there are other tourist attractions such as Hiib Phu
Pha Nang cave, Saowapa cave, Dong Noi water reservioir and Phra
Wet cave. The
national park has provided accomodations and tent area for

From Sakon Nakhon,
please take Sakon Nakhon – Nakhon Phanom route and drive around
14 kilometers. Turn right and drive for another 12
kilometers and you will reach Tao Ngoi district. Drive for
another 6 kilometers and you will reach the national park
office. Another way is to take Sakon Nakhon – Kalasin route.
Then, drive for 5 kilometers. Turn left to Highway Number
2339 and drive for another 35 kilometers to reach the national
park. Admission fee is 100 bath for adults and 50 bath for
children. |
