Betong is a Melayu word meaning a bamboo. Amphoe Betong, once
called Rayom, was founded in 1898 as a land under Siamese
consolidation during European colonial period. With emerging
importance of Betong, its municipal administration has set up
Betong Museum in 2005 to encourage appreciation in cultural and
environmental heritage among the locals. The museum is divided
into 3 floors where exhibitions cover the first 2 floors. On the
first floor, ancient artifacts and arts, furniture, tools such
as chinaware, bowls, lamp displayed in a glass cabinet located
next to a stairway. The second floor features photos, news
clipping, and attractions of Betong. The third floor overlooks a
panoramic view of Betong. |
