Wat Si Yaek Saengpet
วัดสี่แยกแสงเพชร
 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Sharing the same hill  with the Wat Tham Saeng Phet at the east of the provincial capital Amnat Charoen, these two temples are different monasteries, despite their proximity and similar name.
Wat Tham Saeng Phet is nestled in the heart of the forest, while its immediate neighbor, Wat Si Yaek Saeng Phet, is positioned on a rock.
Different in appearance, these two monasteries nevertheless have a link, namely Luang Pu Cha (หลวง ปู่ ชา; 1918 - 1992), or Ajahn Cha (อาจารย์ ชา), a monk of the forest tradition whose fame transcends borders of the Kingdom.
At Wat Si Yaek Saeng Phet, the golden stupa is dedicated to this illustrious monk.Inside, an effigy of Luang Pu Cha stands in the center of this rounded room.
The paintings on the upper part depict some scenes from the life of the Buddha. On the lower parts, however, these are representations of Luang Pu Cha during his life of renunciation. He is represented hagiographically, living in the forest in harmony with wild animals.
Besides this golden stupa, Wat Si Yaek Saeng Phet is interesting for its reclining Buddha, in an original style and a singular posture.
In front of this reclining Buddha is the huge Viharn of the complex, several tens of meters long.
The last building of interest at Wat Si Yaek Saeng Phet is its splendid neo-Lan Xang-style wooden Ubosot, that is, inspired by the temple architecture of Luang Prabang, Laos.
Beyond the general architecture, this ordination hall features magnificent bas-reliefs, on the pediment and inside, forming one of the most beautiful wooden temples in the Isan region.
