Ayutthaya Tourist Center used to be Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
Province town hall, a work place for civil servants in the
regime of Pridi Banomyong, the Prime Minister and the minister
of Finance. In front of the building, there are six statues of
brave kings and a queen of Ayutthaya Period: Ramathibodi I or
U-thong, Phra Boromma Trailokkanat, Naresuan The Great, Narai
the Great, Taksin the Great and Phra Sri Suriyothai.
The
building's ground floor is a tourist service center providing
information for tourists. Upstairs is an exhibition of
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya history, showing the old
capital's stories, history, ways of life, local wisdom and
recommended tourist attractions in the province. The end of the
exhibition area there is a video showing with options of Thai,
English, Chinese and Japanese subtitles.
Ayutthaya
Tourist Center opens on Wednesday to Sunday 9.00 a.m.-4.00 p.m.
Free admission fee.
Incidentally, Ayutthaya Tourist
Center is the location of the National Gallery of Art
permanently exhibiting sculptures and handmade fine art pieces
of 97 artists, 112 pieces in all. Open daily on weekdays except
Wednesday 9.00 a.m.-4.30 p.m. Free admission fee also. Further
