Description: The King Naresuan the Great Monument is  near Thung Phu Khao Thong , Ban Mai sub-district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province.

The monument is the project instigated under Her Majesty Queen Sirikit to serve as a remembrance of King Naresuan the Great. It was constructed in Thung Phu Khao Thong with an area of more than 543 rai. It is only three kilometers away from the city to the north along the Ayutthaya-Pa Mok- Ang Thong Road. The monument was built in honor of King Naresuan the Great, for later generations to recall his bravery, to preserve the historic site, and to become a new tourist attraction for the province.

The  King Naresuan the Great Monument is the King Naresuan on his war horse. The monument is three times the life size on a white stone base. This posture came from when the King killed Lakwaithammu, the top soldier of King Hongsawadi. Lan Ban is made of marble and granite. The front is full of cocks and fighting cocks that people brought to pay their respects.

Eleven low-relief images of his biography and his heroism such as cock fighting in Hongsawadi, firing the gun across the Satong River, Phra Saengdap Khapkhai, killing Lakwaithammu, and the declaration of independence in Khraeng were placed around the base.

Around the monument, there is King Naresuan Museum. Its surrounding  was arranged to be a garden for relaxation, in which green areas are increased by  planting forests, and a  reservoir with a capacity of 2 million cubic meters.

This monument is close to the Queen Suriyothai Monument at Thung Makham Yong , Wat Phu Khao Thong, and Chedi Phu Khao Thong, which appeared in Nirat Phu Khao Thong of Thai’s top poet, Sunthorn Phu.
