 Address:
Known as:   Statue of King Rama I
Description:   Set at the foot of the Memorial Bridge (Saphan Phut), the Memorial of King Rama I the Great was built in 1932 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Bangkok. King Rama I was the first king of the Chakri Dynasty who demanded the relocation of the capital city from Thonburi to Bangkok on the right bank of Chao Phraya River, which is regarded a better strategic location. King Rama I was born in Ayutthaya, the former capital city, on 20 March, 1736, accessed to the throne on 6 April, 1782, and passed away 27 years later.
