Lumpini Park is the first public park in Bangkok.
It is a multi-functional park where people can do several
outdoor leisure activities under fresh air and shade.
A lot of flora and fauna and a large lake can be seen in
the park.
In the past, not only a public park for outdoor
exercise, Lumpini Park also served as a place for having parties
and ballroom dancing.
Now, the park is still popular for
people doing outdoor leisure activities such as exercising,
doing Tai Chi, playing games and music, learning social dancing,
reading books in the library and so on.
Interesting
things in the Park
The statue of King Rama VI it was
built in 1942 to commemorate the construction of the park.
Smiling Sun Ground (Lan Tawan Yim) it is a place for
disabled people where playgrounds, other resources for the
disable and special parking lots are provided.
Bangkok
Elder Citizens Club the club is in the Lumpini Hall and is a
place for elders to communicate, relax, exercise, and train.
Social dancing courses are available every Saturday
Sunday.
Home of Hope it is a refuge for homeless
children that provides information, advice and education to help
the children.
Lumpini Park Library the library provides
books and videos for people.
Lumpini Youth Center the
place offers various kinds of sport and sport training for
children and youth.
Sri Thai Derm Food Center Food and
drink are sold there.
Rental swan paddle boats and rowing
boats are available around the lake.
Buddhist Dharma
Activities the activities are held the last Sunday of every
month. People can make
merit, offer food to monks and listen to Buddhists teaching.
Music in the Park people can enjoy listening to Thai music
and Western music in the park. |
