Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (Snake Farm) was built in 1922
in order to accept His majesty King Rama VI determination and
its main line is “For father land, For science, For humanity”.
From there this institute has begun their mission. At first Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute was a facility to produce Anti-rabies vaccine and then they add on Snake poison serum and Rabies serum in their production line. Nowadays this institute develop into international facility that study and research poison, virus and other biological treat. However the production of vaccine and serum never stop since the first start. They are now accepted by World Health Organization (WHO) and acquire Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard for their production facility. The main mission of Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute is about 1. Be the facility to product vaccine serum and antiseptic 2. Be the facility to research and develop in science purpose 3. Be the facility to provide advisor about venomous and poisonous creature in tropical area also they have a specialist about rabies to give advice as well 4. Be the facility to provide vaccine and serum for all around citizen Another thing about Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute is they are open some of their areas for people, student, and tourist to visit in an education purpose. They have a lot of interesting place for visitor to make a detour at once. First of all let talk about the most famous place in this institute it a Snake farm. The official name is Snake Farm Bangkok and this place has another name from the National geographic magazine the name is Snake Farm in Thailand. This farm isn’t really a farm it is a facility for research about snake so it a good place to visit and learn about snake. They have a real snake exhibition and entertain activity such as Catching snake show and Snake poisoning show. Snake farm is very famous even Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announce this place as a national tourist attraction. There are a lot more place to visit in Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute. Although they not as famous as Snake farm but they are worth of time to pay a visit. The research and necropsy clinic that specialize in rabies. This place has special advisor about rabies and also they do the necropsy in rabies case only. The disease prevention clinic that specialize in rabies. This place is diagnose and cure station in rabies case only and also they provide anti-rabies vaccine for people in need. The immune supplement and medication for tourist or traveler clinic.
