 Description:   Mangrove Resource Development Station 2 in Welu River is located in Ban Tha Sorn, Bo Sub-district, Khlung District, Chanthaburi Province. It is situated at the 374th- 375th kilometer marker on Sukhumvit Road and is approximately 18 kilometers from the city center. The location of the station is mangrove forest in Welu River, covering around 120,000 Rai. It opens under the name “Welu Wetland” for anyone to experience ecotourism.
Inside Mangrove Resource Development Station 2 in Welu River, there are a lot of interesting activities.
Seeing plants in mangrove forest. It takes around 60 minutes for a walk along the 1,200-meter route. The tourists can see a number of plants and aquatic animals in mangrove forest along both sides of the route. They can also attain knowledge via the equipped media in each place.
Seeing water fowls and various types of birds, especially the “Brahminy Kite.” This kind of falcon is admired by a number of birdwatchers. The station also provides both birding binoculars and birding telescopes for the tourists.
Seeing the forest of fireflies. It is a highlight activity here. During November and June every year, there are a lot of fireflies glowing along the forest route, which can surprise the tourists very well.
Cycling along mangrove forest along a 4-kilometer route. The station also rents a bicycle for 20 baht.
Boat trip along Welu River and the area nearby. In the evening almost at dusk, the tourists will see thousands of Brahminy Kites hovering in the sky. This is such an impressively breath-taking picture.
As for the accommodation, the station provides tents for the tourists with full facility. A tent costs 300 baht per night and allows 2-3 people. In case of bringing their own tents, the tourists have to pay 50 baht per night for the campsite.
Direction: From Bangkok, the tourists can take Bangkok- Trat bus. From the city center of Trat Province, the tourists can take Trat- Saen Tung bus, which will arrive at the front of the station.
