Historical Park  Center zone - Inner city  -  Wat Chang
วัดช้าง
 Address:
 Known as:   Wat Nak Watcharasophon
Description:   Wat Chang - not to be confused with Wat Chang Rop - is a small temple just north of the town walls, but east of the Aranyik. The main ruins are a medium-sized pagoda (chedi) with a small prayer hall. The base of the chedi is lined with elephant statues, hence the temple's name (chang means 'elephant'). Unlike the other temples within the historical park zones, the ruins at Wat Chang are still part of a working temple. Given this, though, it was curious to see how unkempt the ruins were. The courtyard around the pagoda was full of leaves and twigs. Obviously it hadn't been swept for days, if not weeks. There appeared to be lots of novices around, so you'd think some of them would be assigned to take care of the ruins daily. That's the kind of thing novices are supposed to do.
