Khuean Srinagarindra National Park in Kanchanaburi Province is
close to Sai Yok and Erawan National Parks and should be part of
a comprehensive visit to the region. The size of the Park is
1,532 square kilometers. The climate is monsoon with an
annual rainfall of 1,150 mm. It has three seasons, the hot dry
period of March to May inclusive, the rainy seaon of May to
October inclusive and the cooler dry seaon of November to
Feruary inclusive. The park is habitat of various wildlife
such as Asian Elephant, Guar, Tiger, Sambar Deer, White handed
Gibbon and Phayer's Langur. Different birds such as Red
Junglefowl, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Thick-billed Pigeon,
Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Olive-backed Sunbird and
Scally-breaasted Munia. Freshwater Fish such as Yellow Mystus,
Transverse-bar Barb, Spotted Featherback, Giant Snake-headed
Fish and Greater Brook Carp. This is limestone karst country
with Limestone Forest, Mixed Deciduous Forest, Deciduous
Dipterocarp Forest and Tropical Evergreen Forest. The Park is
a water shed forest to feed the Srinagarinda Dam. For this
reason plus the fact it contains some natural geographic
features of merit, such as Huai Mae Khamin and Pha Tat
Waterfalls, it was made a National Park. The reservoir today is
attractive landscape and the Park also contains hot springs,
caves (Phra Cave and Neramit Cave) and Karst landscape.
