Phra That Satcha in Wat Lat Poo Song Tham is one of the
locations of the sacred Buddha’s relics that is worth to visit.
The names of the Buddha’s relics are “Phra Arahan That” and
“Pathawee That Phanom” (The soil from Phra That Phanom). It was
built in order to extend the life of Phra That Phanom that had
been collapsed. It is one of the sacred and important religious
places for Thai people in Loei Province and Laotians.
The construction of Phra That Satcha was started on 13 May 1976
and completed on 20 May 1979. It is 33 meters and was made to be
similar to Phra That Phanom. The eight-angled base is 17 meters
wide. The seven-tiered umbrella is located at the top of it.
Below the umbrella is the location of the Buddha’s relics which
made from cement. The estimated budget of the total construction
is 1,500,000 baht. Later, on 28 May 1979, the lotus pattern
decoration was added around Phra That and encircled with 4 side
of walls and doors on each side. The construction was completed
on 15 November 1980. The committee of the temple held the
celebration for 5 days and 5 nights from 17 to 21 February 1981.
On the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 3rd month or Makha
Bucha Day of every year, the temple will hold a ceremony so that
Buddhists from Thailand and Laos visit here and pray for their
luck. |
