Description: |

Wat In Temple was built in 1720. It is located at 48, Moo 2,
Tombon Sao Thong Hin.
Wat In community in the past was a
large community; therefore many temples were built in this area.
The temples are located next to each other to form the
big temple. Every temple has its beautiful resting areas for
monks. These magnificent temples are the symbols representing
the stable and firm living style of ancient people and the
flourishing Buddhism in the community.
Inside Wat In’s
Ubosot hall is the important Buddha Image which is the principle
Buddha Image in “Calling the Earth to witness” pose and made of
red sandstone. The pair-pillars portraying the junk’s chine are
decorated by printed cloth and stuccos which represent the Thai
artisans’ skills. According to the history, they are the
artworks of artisans who lived in late Ayutthaya period.
Moreover, they represent the trace of gold lacquer decorated
with mirrors. These show the works of high-skilled artisans in
this area. The former Ubosot hall and Viharn temple were built
by laying tiles made from leaf sheaf of banana tree without
coating color both on the front and back. There are two layers
of the roof with smooth plain
non-decorative pediments.
The Ubosot hall has one entrance while the Viharn temple is an
octagonal building.
Wat In is the residence of Luang Poh
Pichai Panyatharo Siri who is 74 years old. He is one of
the most famous monk experts in Nonthaburi. Luang Poh Pichai
wishes to reciprocate Phra Kru Nantha Vimonrat, Wat In abbot who
allowed him to stay in a Buddhist monastery during the Buddhist
Lent.
Thus, Laung Poh Pichai decides to renovate the
temple and build the pavilion for practicing Dharma. After
discussing with the abbot, Luang Poh Pichai created 3-inch
Takrud, an amulet inscribed with magic words, and donated the
money as the pavilion building fee which is called “Takrud
Inthara Baramee”.
