 Description:   Baan Kru Montree Tramod (House of Kru Montree Tramod) or widely known as Baan Soam-Songsang which is a song’s name of the work that was his highest popularity and appreciation. It is one of the most valuable and powerful houses for Thai traditional music field. The house is a Thai-style house made of all wood of 2 floors and has an arch climber making the house’s entrance shady and pleasant. The house is located in Soi Pitchayanan 2, Tiwanont 3 Road, Talard Khwan Sub-District, Mueng District, Nonthaburi. In present day, the house is looked after by Kru Montree’s ancester, Khun Yanee Tramod, whom open this house welcoming Kru Montree’s disciples and visiters who are interested in the famous composer’s biography.

The showcase of simple and unambitious way of life is being portrayed as a showcase inside this house as well as the biograpy of Kru Montree Tramod and his music accomplishments which are the originals since his first piece when he was 20 years old until his last piece when he was 91 years of age and also his belongings and items he used while he was still alive. Moreover, the house has been added as Ruen Phra Ruen Kru (house of the teachers) that has holy and sacred items for Wai Kru Ceremony (ritual of presenting obligation to the teacher), Khrop Kru (ceremony to indoctrinate the art pupils), and the image of Buddha Burma-style (decorated like Mahamuni Buddha) next to each others as activity area. The next two floors are for keeping and collecting Kru Montree’s important documents.

Kru Montree Tramod lived during King Rama V’s reign until King Rama IX’s reign; he was a composer of 5 reigns. He was admired as National Artists of Thailand in Fine and Applied Arts of Thai traditional music of 1985. In the past, he has appointed his composed work in Thai melody for over 200 songs along with many lyrics.

For people who are interested in visiting, it is free of charge and there are Thai traditional music class teaching every Saturday and Sunday.
