Wat Bangna is located on the bank of Chaopraya River. It was
built during the end of Ayuttaya Kingdom to the beginning of
Rattakosin Kingdom. This temple was built by Mon community who
has faith in Buddhism. With the civilization of the Mon
architecture, this temple was a beautiful and precious work for
Buddhism. The temple is located at Tambol Bangponhua, Amphur
Samkok, Pathumthani with the area of 1,900 square meters. The
mightiness of Wat Bangna is reflected every day on the Chaopraya
River. The swan pillar is the signature of Mon people, which
shows faith, just like the Asoke pillar of the Indian.
In
the morning, the sun rises and shines through the door of the
ubosot which reflects the ability of the ancestor who carefully
calculate the mathematics and the astronomy divisibly. Inside
the ubosot is a Buddha image named Praputthip Suwanmunee, a
plaster work which is assumed to be built during the Ayuttaya
Kingdom. The ubosot was restored for the first time by Pastor
Yongyut Yasotaro.
Next to the ubosot is a small viharn
with an ancient architectural style. Inside this viharn consist
of two Buddha images built with plaster work. Moreover, there
are also a sermon hall, a praying tower, a monk’s house that was
built during the beginning of the building period. This temple
was granted the royal temple on 2nd February 1807. |
