Description: |
|
This Thai Lue temple, constructed in 1768 by leaders of the Thai
Lue community, displays the signature style of the originally
Chinese ethnic minority. Its three-tiered roof is covered with
wood shingles, and the prayer room, or Ubosot, is low and
constructed of bricks and cement. Of particular interest is
the principal Burmese padauk wood Buddha image over two meters
tall. Taken from southern China’s Xishuangbanna, it displays
typical Thai Lue features: stucco relief of vines, black
lacquer, gold sheets and glittering colorful mirrors adorn the
base. Wat Tha Fa Tai
is located at Mu 11, Ban Fa Si Thong, Tambon Sa, Amphoe Chiang
Muan, Phayao. It is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm. |
