Phetchabun Geopark
อุทยานธรณีเพชรบูรณ์
 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Phetchabun Province looks like a basin resting along the north-south direction. It is caused by the movement of the earth's crust or sub-continent 2 plates 280-240 million years ago, the Indochina Micro Plate in the east and the Shan-Thai Micro Plate in the west. This created a geological wonder scattered throughout the area the land of Phetchabun.
"Phetchabun Geopark" was created to be a natural tourist attraction. All the initial 22 selected sites are the treasures of the Phetchabun province and of the humanity.
UNESCO has given the definition to the word Geopark: 'It is an area of international geologic significance and topography. They are managed holistically, including conservation, education, and conservation with sustainable development '.
The geological heritage must be linked with other areas, whether it is natural science, culture and way of life, It is the development and the study from the top to bottom, from the local government, local peoples.
Acquisition of the "Geopark" membership will take place for 2 years and be reviewed regularly until UNESCO is sure that the park is in good condition and that all conditions are met.
