Wat Chaeng
วัดแจ้ง
 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Wat Chaeng is an important temple in Prachinburi, atypical by its configuration and its different spaces quite dissimilar.

If the imposing Ubosot is located north of the complex, the building that attracts attention is still the stupa of the place. Top of a good thirty meters, it is highlighted by being placed on an island in the middle of a pond.

It is not about any stupa but a replica, almost identical but smaller, Phrathat Phanom (พระ ธาตุพนม), the most revered stupa in the region Isan. Unlike the original, the interior is visited and serves as sanctuaries, including several statues arranged on an altar.

In recent years, Wat Chaeng has expanded with the construction of two new buildings, directly linked to each other by a short corridor.

The first of these two buildings takes the form of a Viharn, pink, decorated with beautiful decorations. Its architecture is inspired by the Lanna style, which is rare in the region.

Inside, the colored columns naturally direct your gaze towards the preserved body of the former chief abbot of Wat Chaeng.

In the building next to it, you can admire the most revered Buddha of this temple, taking the shape of a golden statuette.

It is named Luang Po Phet (หลวง พ่อ เพชร), the diamond buddha, referring here not to a possible gemstone, but to the posture of his legs, called diamond, also known as the position of the lotus.
