Description: |
|
Bangberd Beach is situated in Bangberd Village in Saitong
Sub-district. It is a curved bay with the length of 14
kilometers. The beach is clean with smooth auburn sand. There is
a rocky mountain closing the bay called Bangberd Mountain which
is the symbol of the beach. The beach is a new touristic place
in Prajuabkirikhan and Choomporn province which still maintains
its natural element and its historical value.
Bangberd Village used to
be called “Klongaor Village” after “Aor Canal” which is filled
with numerous reeds. Villagers who did the agriculture in the
past used to come and get the water from this canal which is the
main water resource for every household and for livestock feed.
However, nowadays the canal has been filled up and most of the
villagers’ jobs in Bangberd have changed from farmers to
fishermen.
In the Second World War period, Bangberd was known for its
watermelons which were huge and weighted over ten kilograms. Its
taste was sweet and crisp; it was Tom Watson’s from America. In
contrast with watermelons which were sold in the market in that
period, they were from the east such as Trad province. The
quality was so much different; it was not sweet and crisp. Sugar
had to be added to watermelon to sweeten the taste. It was grown
in the watermelon farm of Mom Chao Sithiporn Krisdakorn, the
Father of the Agriculture, whose motto is “Money is an illusion,
food and hunger is real”.
To visit, you can travel by
personal car through the highway 4 (Petchkasem road) to
milestone 425 (around Huai Sak T-junction). Then turn left to
the highway 3497 about 16 kilometers before reaching Bangberd
Beach. Another way is if you travel by public buses, take
Bangkok-Bang Sapannoi bus to Huai Sak T-junction and take a
motorbike taxi rider to Bangberd Beach. Also, in case of
travelling by train, take off at Huai Sak or Bang Sapannoi
station and call for a pickup service (if any) for your
convenience. |
