Thanarat Infantry Camp is on Phetchakasem Road, in Khao Noi,
Pran Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan. Taking Thonburi-Pakthor Highway,
it is 237 kilometers away from Bangkok. Thanarat Infantry Camp
is a Military Camp, setting in a large area of approximately
600,000 hectares, which covers 2 districts; Pranburi and
Hua-Hin.
Tourists can travel there conveniently by
taking Highway no.4 from Huahin to Pranburi. About 1.5
kilometers before reaching Pranburi, you will find a crossroad
leading to the Camp entrance on the right. Just turn right and
go along the way.
The camp consists of many attractions.
The first attraction is the Memorial Building of Field Marshall
Sarit Thanarat, a place that preserves a collection of his
biography, past works, clothes and personal belongings,
including royal decorations and significant documents in the old
times.
Another interesting tourist spot is Infantry
Museum of Thai Army, a one storey building on the hillock,
located near the Armed Forces Headquarter. Inside exhibits a
series of both ancient and modern war weapons from various
periods. It also displays Thai Military uniforms from Ayutthaya
period up to now.
Moreover, the Camp has Tha Sadet,
located by Pran Buri River in the west of the camp, 12
kilometers from Phetchakasem Road. It is a natural relaxation
space, where visitors can relish flowering plants, see varieties
of plants found in Thai literature, and enjoy many adventurous
activities, such as tower jumping, cliff climbing, shooting,
fishing and camping.
In 2002, Thanarat Infantry Camp
received an Award for “The Tourism Promotion and Development”,
regarding to its beautiful landscape for tourists, preparation
of proper activities in relation to space, and effective working
organization. For this reason, Thanarat Infantry Camp can
attract plenty of tourists to visit the camp.
