 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Pong Yup is a 3.2-hectare land in Ban Ta Koei, Tambon Ta Koei, Amphoe Suan Phueng, Ratchaburi, where a subsidence – natural phenomenon when the land collapses due to an erosion of the underground water which has been ongoing for many hundreds years – occurred and formed compressed shapes of soil along the erosion line. Some of the areas is as high as city walls, some has a shape like dens which allows visitors to crawl through, some is a human-body-size hole, while some erects as a complex cluster, giving a similar look to a maze. Many parts of Pong Yup are earthen columns and up-to-5-metre-tall cliffs where its surface shows curtain-like streaks. With all amazing works of the nature, some tourists name this place ‘Canyon’. The similar derivatives of such erosions are Phae Mueang Phi of Prae, Lalu of Buriram, and Hom Chom of Nan.

Pong Yup used to be an agricultural area, but is also said by the elderly to be a sacred residence to Phaya Naga and thus a forbidden place for children. The subsidence still occurs nowadays in the area between rice fields and shrubs

This attraction opens everyday 6.00 - 18.00hrs. It is accessible by car.  From Amphoe Chom Bueng, please drive passing Chom Phon Cave’s entrance towards Amphoe Suan Phueng for around 29 kilometres. Turn left at where the road to Ban Tae Koei (and also Pong Yup) is indicated. There are hand-made direction signs along two sides of crop fields. The last two hundred metres is a gravel road leading to the parking lot. The entrance fee is 30-50 baht per car.

5 kilometres before arriving at Amphoe Suan Phueng, there is a 5-km. branch road on the left leading to Pong Yup at Tambon Tha Khoei. This attracts visitors with plenty of strange looking earthen pillars and cliffs naturally created by soil erosion.
