Description: |
|
Chao Pho Lak Mueang Shrine is a sacred site that has been
respected by Samut Prakan people for more than 200 years. It is
also regarded as the oldest Ganesha shrine in Thailand located
at Mueang Phra Pradaeng town municipality, Talat sub-district,
Phra Pradaeng district, Samut Prakan province.
Chao Pho
Lak Mueang Shrine was constructed as a city shrine, in which the
mystery thing was put in the same year when Khuean Khan City was
built during the reign of King Buddha Loetla Nabhalai (King Rama
II) in 1995.. It is a Thai, Chinese and Mon style, in which the
bronze Ganesh statue is situated above the pillar. It is only
the sole Ganesh that is a part of the city pillar. However, its
square pillar made of brick and mortar and painted in red was
actually deep into the shrine. Only few people have an
opportunity to really reach the location of the pillar.
Stone Ganesh Shrine with four arms is situated at a Thai throne,
sitting on a lotus base. His upper right hand holds a trident
and the lower right hand a tusk; the upper left hand holds a
lariat and the lower one a bowl. The Ganesh statue is simply
beautiful because his body seldom has decorations even crowns.
The Ganesh statue is a center of faith of Phra Padaeng
people and other people who have faith in him.
Despite its location in the Phra Pradaeng market,
faithful people worship him consistently.
Although it was more than 200 years ago, the shrine is
not only a heart of city but also a pillar of soul of Phra
Pradaeng unceasingly.
