Mr. Chawat Chumpasan or "Teacher Spare" is the initiator of the
"Street Art King Bhumibol" project. This project aims to
commemorate the generosity of His Majesty King Bhumibol
Adulyadej (Rama IX) to his people and to maintain his memory
across the country by creating at least one work in each of
Thailand's 77 provinces.
To implement this project, he
surrounds himself with volunteers (artists or others), and
operates essentially with donations and the support/cooperation
of the municipalities where these works are generated.
Part
of these donations comes from companies for the supply of paint
or equipment used in the creation of these works. The local
community also supports this work by providing accommodation and
meals to the team of artists. Some media participate in the
promotion of this project.
The volunteer artist group "Street
Art King Bhumibol" created its first work at Bétong
Kindergarten, Yala Province, on August 31, 2018, under the name
of the image "I am not back yet ".
The work here is the 19th
created at the end of August 2023, it is located on the facade
of one of the government buildings of the province of Samut
Prakan (See GPS coordinates)
To date, 27 works have been
created by this team with certain provinces benefiting from
several works (Bangkok, Phuket, Nong Khai) or others not counted
for reasons specific to the team (Nakhon Sawan). |
