 Address:
Known as:   Fort Plaeng Faifah Phlaeng Faifa Fortress
Description:   Fort Plaeng Faifah is located near Phra Pradaeng Market in Tambon Talard, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan. It is a fort of Nakhon Khuean Khan that was once a naval base on the Chao Phraya River estuary. The fort was built in the reign of Rama II on the right side of the Chao Phraya River. There were many forts located on the right side of the river - Fort Manasungharn, Fort Rahujorn, Fort Pisad Sing, and Fort Vidhayakom - but only Fort Plaeng Faifah remains today.

In 1893, King Rama V ordered a restoration of Fort Plaeng Faifah to be in a usable condition and Phra Pradaeng City Council also renovated the fort again in 1971 for public use. Old canons are placed in the area around the fort as well as a gazebo and lots of trees planted.

Fort Plaeng Faifah is surrounded by 4 walls on 4 directions – North, South, East and West. The wall on the South is different because it has double walls to prevent the bullets. The entrance is on the Northwest and is still in a perfect condition.

Inside the fort, there are battlements to place cannons and a road to drag canons to the battlements. All old surroundings could bring you the imagination of all those fights against the enemies in the old days.

If you have a chance to visit the area around Phra Padaeng Market in Samut Prakan, don't forget to stop by at this fort to have some rest.

To get here: From Phra Pladaeng T-junction (Suksawat Road), turn left to Phra Pladaeng Market. You can park in Phra Pladaeng District Office. You can also use buses no. 82 (BMTA) or no.6 and stop at Phra Pladaeng Market bus stop.

Open daily 8.30-16.30 for free of charge.
