Description: |

A favourite stop for tourists to SamutSongkhram is the pristine
sandbar at the mouth of the Mae Klong River: Don Hoi Lot, named
for the abundant indigenous “Hoi Lot” or razor clams. The
3-kilometer-by-5-kilometer stretch spans two zones: Don Nok lies
at the mouth of Ao Mae Klong, accessible by boat, and Don Nai is
located on the beach of the Chuchi village in Tambon Bang
Chakreng and on the beach of the Bang Bo village in Tambon Bang
Kaeo, accessible by car. A nearby shrine offers live music in
the late afternoons on the first and third weeks of the month,
and neighboring restaurants offer a delicious range of fresh and
dried seafood for souvenirs. Be sure to take advantage of the
lingering low tides between March and May and hire a boat from
the nearby Aphon Pavilion for a scenic tour.
Getting
there by car: 1. To get to the Bang Bo village in Tambon Bang
Kaeo: Take the Thon Buri–Pak Tho Road (Rama II Road), and follow
the sign on the left before Km 62 to Don Hoi Lot for around 7
km.
2. To get to the Chuchi Village in Tambon Bang
Chakreng: Take the Thon Buri–Pak Tho Road (Rama II Road), and at
the foot of the PhraPhutthaloetlaNaphalai Bridge or around Km
64, follow the sign to Don Hoi Lot for approximately 5
kilometers. Alternatively, buses depart all day from the
market in AmphoeMueangSamutSongkhram to Don Hoi Lot in Chuchi
village. A variety of boats are also available from the pier on
the Mae Klong River to Don Nok. For a group of 60-250 people,
contact KhunPhonthipSaengwanit at the Sun HuatHeng Sawmill in
