Tham Phra Phothisat     -
ถ้ำพระโพธิสัตว์
 Address:
 Known as:
Description:   Wat Tham Phra Phothisat, also known as Phra Ngam cave or Khao Nam Phu cave, has a number of spectacular stalagmite and stalactite in several different sizes. Worth visiting caves are such as Phra Phothisat cave, Phra Thammathat cave, Lumphini cave and Tham Sa-ngat Chedi cave. The temple offers calm and peaceful atmospheres with the lush of plants. Dotting around the temple ground are signs written with moral teachings, proverbs or wise sayings to sharpen the mind of passersby.
There is a walkway from the temple directly to Phra Phothisat cave. It is a small-scaled cave with a comfortable temperature yet pretty steep. After walking in through a narrow entrance, visitors will find a bas-relief of the Dvaravati period on the cave wall, depicting the preaching Buddha and Hindu gods. The Fine Arts Department has registered the cave as a national ancient monument with highly valued artistic works.
In addition, visitors can enjoy the breath-taking sceneries because 3 sides of the temple are embraced by mountain ranges and the temple itself stands on a hill. To admire the panoramic views, one should ascend the entrance of Phra Phothisat cave or the top of the belfry. If you are in search of tranquility and love practicing Dharma and meditation, the temple has everything you would expect.
To get there, start from Mittraphap Road which heads to Nakhon Ratchasima. At Cement Factory 2 (Nakorn Luang cement factory), make a U-turn on the bridge.  3 kilometers from the U-turn Bridge you will see an intersection and a signpost for Wat Tham Dao Khao Kaew. Turn left at the footbridge and follow a direction sign indicating Wat Tham Phra Phothisat for 6.5 kilometers.
