Description: |
|
During the winter months of November and December, cheery yellow
sunflower fields spring up along the PhatthanaNikhom-Wang Muang
Road, offering a relaxing distraction to those passing by.
The hardy flowering plants are usually grown as a substitution
crop for off-season rice fields or other crop fields. They are
an economically valuable plant providing not only benefits from
harvesting, but also generating income from tourism. Sunflowers
are the source of delicious dried sunflower seeds, sunflower
seed cookies, chips, crispy sheets, sunflower honey, bee pollen,
royal jelly, and more.
The fields are found between Lop Buri and Saraburi, along the
PhatthanaNikhom–Wang Muang route. For more information, contact
the Wang Mueang District Agriculture Office at 0 3635 9021. |
