Laem Pho was once an important port of Chaiya, which was past of
Srivijaya empire, located approximately 2 kilometers along
Phumriang Beachside Road is Laem Pho a cape that is famous for
its fresh and excellent seafood.
Highly recommended is Hoi Kao (white mussel), a local
delicacy which can only be found here.
Also many artifacts found here, such as Chinese and
Persian ceramics and Arabian beads, recount the flourishing
trading activities here.
To get to Laem Pho by public transportation, either take Surat
Thani- Ranong or Surat Thani- Chumphon buses.
From Chaiya City, take Chaiya- Phumriang buses. Leam
Pho Palace was used to be the place that King Taksin visited
Chaiya. After that King Rama the Fifth came to see where King
Taksin visited. Leam Pho Palace was built as a remembrance of
both kings. Leam Pho Palace was built in Panya design. Visitors
can see nice beach, bridge to Leam Pho, Set island. It is a good
place to eat fresh seafood at Thai restaurants. From Suratthani,
you drive to Chaiya district, at Thapho intersection, go to Ban
Pum Rieng, turn left along the beach, you will see Leam Pho
Palace at the end of the road. |
