Description:   The City Pillar Shrine is the soul of Surat Thani people. Thai people gather to worship there in the evening. There is an arched floral with lotus, marigold, amaranth and candles available for worships.
A Lak Mueang or City pillar is found in most cities of Thailand. Usually housed in a shrine which is also believed to house the city spirit deity, Chao Pho Lak Meuang, it is held in high esteem by the citizens of the town.
The City Pillar Shrine of the South Thailand provincial capital of Surat Thani is located near the river Tapi, that flows through Surat Thani town. It is at the center of a square with a well maintained garden and has a beautiful white rock surface. There are elephant figures of all sizes all over the place.
Nearby Talad Mai (“New market”) road is a well known and lively shopping district.
