Description: |

Bangrak beach is a 4km stretch of fine, white sands which curves
around tropical Bangrak Bay in the popular northeast of Koh
Samui island. The beach offers stunning views of the bay towards
the neighbouring "full-moon party" island of Koh Phan Ngan and
although this Koh Samui beach is relatively quiet compared to
other beaches in the area, there are a few budget and higher-end
resorts where you can use sun beds and beachfront facilities so
long as you buy a few refreshments. There are three small,
rickety piers (from west to east; In-Sea Speedboat, Samui Pier
and Petcharat Marina) on Bangrak beach where traditional Thai
wooden ferry boats and more modern speedboats take vistors to
Koh Phan Ngan Island and a larger, concrete pier (Seatran
Ferries) at the far eastern end of the bay where larger ferries
take passengers to the mainland and surrounding islands. The
fresh fish market is located just beyond the Seatran pier with
the entrance to the Golden Big Buddha temple a further 200
meters from the market. Starting at the furthermost western
point of the bay, the first kilometer of the beach is very
undeveloped and the water is quite shallow and rocky with rocks
exposed at low-tides. Towards the center of the beach, there are
more accommodation options and the beach offers better swimming.
The Samui Pier resort is well-recommended as it offers a good
swimming spot with sunloungers, hammocks and shady bamboo
pavilions where you can escape the heat and enjoy a refreshment.
As the stretch of sands reaches the eastern side of the bay the
coastline does get quite rocky and accommodation options become
more sparse. |
