Jao Poh Pah Wor Shrine or Pah Wor guardian spirit shrine is
located at the Pah foothill around 62th-63th kilometers. Around
the shine is the parking lot among the relaxing atmosphere.
Behind the shrine are the high mountain peaks and the fresh
air. This shrine is respected by Tak city people and Mae Sod
district people. It is told that he was the Karen warrior in the
reign of King Taksin who appointed him as the head of Mae Lamao
custom house to prevent the enemy from reaching Tak city. He
fought with Burmese, who intruded through Mae Lamao custom
house, to protect the nation's freedom upon his death.
People have passed on the sacred story that every time the city
is in danger, Mae Sod people will hear Pah Wor's horse- steps
around the city. Moreover, those who hunt wild animal in the
forest often meet bad fate such as the car becomes broken down,
that person gets ill or gets lost. The front of the shrine is
beautifully built and matched with the panoramic mountain peaks
at the back. Inside the shrine is where Pah Wor bronze statue
and the candle and joss stick pot located. Flowers are also
provided to pay respect. After paying respect to Pah Wor, people
often put the flower garland on the statue's hands. Since Pah
Wor was a warrior, he loved gunfire sound. Therefore, people who
visit the shrine may pay respect by honking a horn, firing
and lighting the firecrackers. Beside Pah Wor guardian spirit
shrine is the staircase. Under the Buddha Image is the hall
where the giant Buddha Image with Naga above can be found. There
are two staircases at both sides of the Buddha Image. At the
back of the Buddha Image is also the peaceful scenery of high
mountain peaks. The wall inside are the mural paintings.
Moreover, visitors can find stalls and coffee shops around this
area. |
