Wat Bot Manee Siboonrueng is located in the opposite side of
Phra Chao Tak Sin Shrine. Initially, there were 2 temples within
the area; Wat Bot Maneerat, and Wat Siboonrueng. In 1954, the
two were combined into one temple as nowadays. Wat Bot Manee
Siboonrueng was built in 1859. Originally, the vihara of the
temple was wholly made of teak. Inside the vihara, there are 8
mural paintings on planks on the left and right sided walls.
Surrounding the principal Buddha image, 2 paintings were hung on
the right and left hand sided walls, and another painting at the
back of the statue. All mural paintings are related to life of
the Lord Buddha, already registered by the Department of Fined
Arts of Thailand. Apart from the Vihara, the Chedi is also
extraordinary unique. To illustrate, the Chedi was built in Mon
style, whereas the vihara is in Thai style. The vihara enshrined
Luang Phor Phra Puttamon, a bronze Buddha statue from Sukhothai
period with elegant characteristics. It was assumed to be built
in the early Buddhist era (19 B.E.). Wat Bot Manee Siboonrueng
has many historical evidences that should be preserved. With its
glamorously exquisite mural paintings, the temple has been
famous for its beauty. This site is greatly worth-studying for
both Thai and foreign visitors. |
