Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary is a conserved forest, aiming to
preserve natural resources of Thailand’s western forest, the
area at which one of the world heritages is located. Most of the
areas are complex mountains with rainforests and deciduous
forests. The weather is very cold during November to February.
Wild animals that can be seen at this sanctuary are clouded
leopards, tapirs, serows, falcons and spot-billed pelicans. The
area was announced Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary in 1989. The main
attraction inside the sanctuary is the Thi Lo Su Waterfall. Thi
Lo Su means “the Black Waterfall” in Karen language. It is
located in the area of Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary, 3 kilometers
far from the office. It is a large limestone waterfall with the
width of 500 meters and height of 300 meters, located 900 meters
above sea level. Thi Lo Su’s water source comes from Klo Tho
stream supplying water for the waterfall all year round.
Situated in the embrace of charming luxuriant vegetation, Thi Lo
Su is the most beautiful waterfall in Thailand and is ranked
among the six most beautiful waterfalls in the world. To visit
the waterfall, visitors need to be extra careful when walking in
some tiers which require visitors to walk through the stream. To
get to the waterfall by car, from Umphang District, take Umphang

from Ban Mae Klong to Dan De Lo or “Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary”
